Watch it grow...18 weeks!

How far along? 18 Weeks
Size of Baby Baker: Bell Pepper
Total weight gain/loss: Pretty sure I am holding steady at the 2lb gain mark.
Maternity clothes? If Fall would ever get here then I am sure I would be in maternity pants but it is still so hot I am able to sport my same ole same ole dresses. If it is a bit chilly I just throw on a jean jacket and I am good to go! I did buy a pair of maternity jeans this week so I could go ahead and get them hemmed. They aren't the kind with the panel, they are the ones that have elastic in the waist and sit under your belly. Why wouldn't just normal people wear these things?!?!? They felt great!
Best moment this week: Seeing some really cute bedding fabric I liked. It got me excited to think that in about 3 weeks we will know for sure and I will be able to really start planning.

Worst Moment:  Not a thing this week!
Miss Anything? Bootcamp! I was doing bootcamp 3 days a week before I got pregnant and it just makes you feel so great! I know I can still work out but I don't think I would be willing to work out that much! Ha! Which, I really need to get back in the swing of doing my yoga and walking. At this point something as simple as that might feel like bootcamp to my body.
Movement: Not really this week.
Food cravings:Hot fudge sundae one day but other than that, nothing. :-( Well, actually, NERDS one day too. I get the craving for a day and then it goes away.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Meat?!?!? Doesn't make me awful sick but I just don't like it.
Have you started to show yet: YES! I can really tell from the above pictures that I am really starting to round out. And I think my belly button looks different. Not really sure how different but just different.
Gender prediction: Counting down the days till October 14th! I did start a little Baby Pool this week. It has been so fun to see what everyone says!

Here is the link to it if you want to join in on the fun too! Baby Baker Gender Pool
Pass code is "baby".
What is Baby Baker up to? Baby Baker is about 51/2 inches long and weighs almost 7oz. Skeleton is now hardening into bone. Myelin, a protective covering around the nerves has begun to form. Myelin plays an important role in the communication between neurons and it will continue to develop through the first year. Skin is still think and transparent but the vernix caseosa has developed to help protect him or her. Also is Baby Baker is a boy, hi genitals are not noticeable! And if a girl the uterus is fully formed and in place along with the fallopian tubes. This is the reason that Sarah was able to find out this week that here little bundle of joy is a BOY!!!! She was my roommate in college our sophomore year and we have the exact same due date! It has been so fun being able to text and email multiple times a week seeing what is going on with each other. However I am extremely jealous that she already knows and I don't! Read about how she did her reveal here.

In other Baker news.... The Master bedroom was painted and now I am just going to be busy doing the other million projects I need to get done this weekend. I have a monthly to do list from now until January with hopes of being done with everything in January. We will see how that goes.

Cheers to 10 years of friendship!

Last weekend 6 of us where able to get together to go down to the beach to have a nice weekend away to celebrate 10 years since we all pledged AOII. We missed the ones that weren't able to join us.
Jamey's sweet mom had this cute sign for us when we got there.

We headed down to Jamey's beach cottage which was absolutely perfect and the cutest thing ever!
We were equipped with everything we needed including transportation to and from the beach.

We had the best time catching up and watching some Alabama football and of course eating some goodies!
There are the best cookies EVER!So glad Kelly brought them! I think they are from Edgars in Birmingham.

After the game we went to Old Florida Fish House for dinner which was super yummy but it would been better if I could have gotten a tuna roll... those looked delicious!

Not sure why I don't have a picture of the other side of the table...

Baker Baker also got acquainted with all the girls.

Hard to believe it has been 10 years since we were all strangers sitting on the AOII lawn on bid day.

Watch it grow...Week 17 (and 1 day)

I wrote this post Friday, took pictures Saturday and finally posting on Sunday...
hopefully this won't become a habbit! :-)

How far along? 17 Weeks
Size of Baby Baker: Turnip
Total weight gain/loss: Officially up 2 pounds at the Dr. on Monday 9/12/11
Maternity clothes? Still no yet but the weather has changed around here this week so I need to go shopping very soon! Especially for some pants and leggings. There is just not a huge selection of maternity clothing options around town so I am going to have to head up to Birmingham to shop. I know you can order off the Internet but I have never been a good clothes shopper on the Internet. I always have to try on things.
Sleep: Well considering i am up at 4:34 AM typing this, I would say not the best, but I think it is more due to the fact that I just got back in town from traveling for work and I have a thousand things on my mind so I couldn't sleep. I actually have been waking up around 3:15 every night on the dot to go potty. Some nights I fall right back to sleep and others are like this. At least it is almost the weekend so today won't be too brutal. Other than that I am getting use to the side sleeping even though I still wake up on my back from time to time.
Best moment this week: Hearing Baby B's strong little heartbeat. It was 150 on the doppler Monday.  Right where we want it to be. (said the nurse) I will admit, I was a little surprised by this. Seemed a bit low compared to the other readings, 171 at 8 weeks 4 days, 160 at 12 weeks 4 days and now 150 at 16 weeks 4 days. From the previous readings and the old wives' tales I just was kind of thinking it sounded like a girl but this 150 has thrown me for a loop... we will find out October 14th!
Worst Moment: As I mentioned earlier I had to travel for work this week. I left Tuesday for Houston and got back yesterday, Thursday. I was at the trade show on Wednesday and almost had a little passing out episode. It was about an hour after I had eaten lunch which consisted of salad with no dressing, penne pasta with marinara sauce, Parmesan chicken, water and a little dessert. Not exactly sure what it was but it was like a moouse thing. I was actually proud of myself for eating such a large lunch since that has been a little bit of a struggle for me lately. So I was making my "rounds" at the tradeshow and was at one of my customer's booths. I was just talking away and starting not feeling well. I was trying to push through but once I started seeing some stars I asked if they minded if I sat down for a minute. I could feel the color drain from my face and I started a cold sweat. Someone went to go get me some ice water and after a few minutes I was perfectly fine. I wasn't sure exactly what had caused it but then yesterday morning I ordered a Belgian waffle with ham and a regular coke for breakfast. I was trying to eat big since we were headed out to fly back home and I needed a little caffeine boost for the journey. I ate, showered and once I got to drying my hair started not feeling so great. Nothing like the day before but enough to have to sit down every few minutes. So I am thinking it might have something do to with a carb overload and my blood sugar.  I am not too concerned with it because otherwise I feel great but I will definitely watch my carb to protein ratio and make sure I am getting enough protein each time I eat too.
Miss Anything? Sushi! Ahi Tuna to be specfic! I have been to 2 sushi restaurants this week. One at the beach with the girls and then one in Houston. I will still get a crunchy shrimp roll which is, of course, full cooked but when the person sitting beside you has a yummy tuna roll, it is a bit hard!
Movement: Still feeling the little bubbles from time to time. Mostly when I am really still in bed but I am still just not sure what they are.
Food cravings: Ahi Tuna which I can't have! :-(
Anything making you queasy or sick: Besides the two episodes while traveling in Houston this week, nothing! I am feeling great!
Have you started to show yet: Iam pretty sure most of my customers had thought I had just packed on some pounds when they first saw me this week until I told them I was expecting. Still in the in between stage but there are some outfits that I can wear that will make me deafiently look more pregnant. My tummy is also starting to get more firm.
Gender prediction: That heartbeat this week really threw me for a loop so I still have no clue. Our appointment is scheduled for October 13th and then we will have the gender reveal party on the following night October 14th. I am pretty sure that will be the longest 24 hours of my life... waiting to cut into that cake!
Looking forward to: Continue my nesting and wearing leggings now that the weather is getting cooler! The master bedroom did get painted this last week but I still don't have it put all back together yet but once I do I will post the before and after photos.
What is Baby Baker up to? Baby B is roughly 5 inches long and weighs 5 ounces now. That's even more than the placenta weighs.Though no new structures have formed this week, she has developed fat deposits under her skin that will account for about 2-6% of baby's total body weight at the time of birth.  The skeleton, which up until this point has been made up of flexible cartilage, is now hardening into bone. Another exciting event…her sense of hearing begins to develop this week! Which means I will be playing some of my favorite tunes for him/her soon!

Watch it grow...16 weeks!

** I feel like the bottom photo gives a more accurate view of the baby bump. **

How far along? 16 Weeks
Size of Baby Baker: Avacodo
Total weight gain/loss: Think I might be up 2 lbs! I will know for sure when I go to Dr. Monday for my 16 week check up.
Maternity clothes? Not yet but getting pretty close to having to go to pants. Luckily I am still enjoying my dresses. Although from the above photo I don't know if they are really as flattering on me as I though! LOL

Sleep: Not so good last night. I am trying to get use to this side sleeping thing but so far it just isn't working out too well. I think I need another pillow.
Best moment this week:Showing off the little baby bump to people who haven't seen me in a few weeks. They say it is nothing, but I beg to differ with them!

Worst Moment: Nothing really. I have a headache today but I think it is due to the weather change.
Miss Anything? This past weekend we went to the beach with Ted's family for a few nights and I would have loved a Margarita!
Movement: Not sure on this one. I think when I lay in the bed at night sometimes I feel little flutters, almost like bubbles. But I don't know if it is the baby or not.
Food cravings:Still loving my milk! Potato soup and I have really like Cinnamon Toast Crunch this week!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I don't feel the best in the mornings when I wake up but I think that is due to the sleeping issue. Hopefully it will get better soon. And I did gag when I brushed my teeth last night!
Have you started to show yet: Still not too much to others but to me, yes!
Gender prediction: Still have no clue! After Monday's Dr. appt. I will have the gender ultrasound scheduled. Hopefully it will be close to October 14th. That is Ted's 30th Birthday and we plan on having a gender reveal party that night with all our family. Ted's parents are coming in from Oklahoma so it will be perfect. We are not even going to find out at the Dr. appt, we will find out when they all do! So fun, I can't wait!
Looking forward to: Nesting! I have already started getting ready. And those of you that know me know I love a good to do list. This week I made our our monthly to do lists from now until January. If all does as planned, which I realize might not happen, we will have everything good to go by January so we can "enjoy" the last month and wait on Baby B to arrive. More on that "to do" list in another post.

What is Baby Baker up to? Little heart is pumping 25 quarts of blood every day and bladder is emptying every 45 mins. Limbs are even more developed and movements are becoming coordinated. (He might even be starting his working on him "worm" dance move just like his daddy! LOL) No hair yet but patterning of the scalp has begun. Growth spurt is coming up this next week... Baby B will double his weight and add some inches.

In other Baker news.... we are having our master bedroom painted today and tomorrow. This is the first area of the house that I or my MIL have not painted. Kind of nice leaving it up to someone else to have to deal with. Just hope they do as good of a job as we have done! :-)

Today I am headed out of town for a girls weekend beach get away to celebrate our "10 year anniversary" of meeting one another. Yes, we find an excuse to celebrate anything! Can't believe it has been 10 years since our Bid Day on the AOII front lawn. Hoping for better weather this weekend since last weekend with the family, we had Tropical Storm Lee to contend with.

Happy weekend. Looking forward to sharing the before and after pics of the master next week!
Roll Tide!

Watch it grow... Week 15!

How far along? 15 Weeks
Size of Baby Baker: Apple!
Total weight gain/loss: Last Dr. visit I was down .5lb and I think I am still right about there.
Maternity clothes? Bought some work pants since I will be traveling mid September and I will need to get them hemmed but they are still on the big side. However maxi dresses are my BFFs right now. Pants are just not as comfy.

Sleep: Pretty good, just trying to convert to side sleeping. I am a back sleeper so hopefully I will get use to it quickly. Up about 2 times a night to potty.
Best moment this week: feeling good!

Worst Moment: I got sick Sunday night for the first time. Mom is convinced that it was the Hot-N-Sour soup I had for lunch but I am not sure. I ate that at 12 and didn't get sick till after 7 that night. Either way, I guess I will stay away from it now even though I love it!
Miss Anything? My small waist... this has always been the smallest part about my body so to see it go away is a little unusual. But that's okay. ;-)
Movement: Not yet.
Food cravings: Milk (organic!), jalapenos or anything spicy
Anything making you queasy or sick: not really this week
Have you started to show yet: Yes, my tummy has really rounded out this week!
Gender prediction: I have always said girl but now I think it really could go either way. Girl due to some breakouts, heartbeat (HB at 8 weeks 4 days was 171 and at 12 weeks 6 days it was 160) and the Chinese Calendar. Boy due to me craving spicy foods! Just based on old wives tales.
Looking forward to: Having a cute preggo belly and not just the bloated look.

What is Baby Baker up to? Legs are growing longer than arms now, and Baby Baker can move all of its joints and limbs. Although the eyelids are still fused shut, baby can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at my tummy, for instance, Baby Baker likely to move away from the beam. Taste buds are also forming.

Back to blogland...

So over the past few weeks months my 3 followers have obviously noticed my absence from the blog world. I was just really having a hard time writing "all about the Bakers", not finding too much interest into what we were doing, thinking "who will actually want to read this", yadda, yadda, yadda. Well in case you missed the new title of the blog... I finally have something that you friends and family near and far might find worth reading... MK+Ted+Bella is having a baby!!!! We couldn't be more excited!

Let's start with giving some background of the past few months...
Nothing too exciting has gone on around these parts besides the dog days of summer. Ted had gone on a few bachelor trips, I have been enjoying the down time at work before the crazy fall gets here and we took a trip to Washington DC. It seems that I always have a trade show every June in a cool city so the past few years Ted has been able to go with me. A little work AND play. Even though our anniversary isn't until July, these also usually doubles over as our anniversary trip. WARNING possible TMI.... I had been on BC for a few months just for my body to get use to it and we had been in the talks of getting ready to start a family. My body adjusted well to being off the pill and I was pretty much in a regular routine. Long story short without getting in all the non necessary details when we returned from our trip to DC, which I had drank wine most every night, eat oysters and anything else you aren't supposed to do while pregnant, I realized that I was a few days behind schedule. I had just happened to have a test so I took it... about 30 secs later, not the 3 minutes it was suppose to take, those 2 little lines showed up loud and clear! I was in shock! A good shock, but I just couldn't believe it!
So needless to say, I needed to go get more! Ted was outside playing with the neighborhood kids (seriously) and I jumped in the car to get some "balsamic vinaigrette" to go with our salad. Why I said that to Ted when I was leaving was beyond me. If I had said to grab a bottle of wine, he would have thought nothing of it. Not to mention I just got back from going to the grocery store. But off I went to CVS. I bought a box of 2 digital ones... not those cheap ones. I need a clear "yes" or "no". Went back home, still not saying anything to Ted as I rushed back in. I took the test, "yes" appeared in no time. About 15 mins later took the second test and a "no" appeared. What? That is crazy... how could these test play with me like this?!?!? Of course me being me, I decided I needed to go back to the store but there wasn't anyway I was going to be able to get past Ted again. Just as I was deciding my "game plan" I heard him come in. I headed to the kitchen to meet him grinning from ear to ear. He was wondering what in the world was going on. I told him to come back her. He followed me to our bedroom and then as I was about to head into the bathroom he said, "you're pregnant, aren't you?" As I explained what I had been doing for the past 30 mins, I told him I needed to go get more. So I headed out and this time went to Publix, I didn't want the CVS peeps to think I was totally nuts! So I went to Publix, hoping no one would see me. I just didn't want everyone to find out quite like that and bought another box of the digital kind again. These actually read out "pregnant" or "not pregnant". AFTER I paid for them the pharmacist noticed that they were expired so I had to trade out for some others and he let me get two boxes of them... not sure why. But I was headed home well equipped with six more tests!

Long night short... they all were positive!

So here we are today... Baby B will be 15 weeks tomorrow! Last Dr. appt at 12 weeks heartbeat was 160. First Dr. appt at 8 weeks 4 days, HB was 171! If we go by the old wives tales... sounds like a girl to me, but we are happy with either or!

So far so good with being pregnant. A little nauseated in the beginning and exhausted beyond comprehension but I think I am getting over the hump now. Not much of of appetite and I actually lost a little between 8 week dr appt and 12 week but this week it seems to be coming back which I am more than ready for! :-)

One fun part of being pregnant is I am not the only one! One BFF from high school is about 24 weeks, Mrs. Smith has little H who is about 4 months old, roommate from college also expecting 1st of January and other roommate from college, Sarah has the EXACT same due date as me! It has been great to have someone to compare to along the way! So fun!

Epic Fail...

So my plan didn't pan out so well but I have some new and exciting things coming up that will get me back in the blogging world. New projects, recent trips, etc. I. WILL. BE. BACK!
